Our American cocker spaniel Lady was adopted in August 2010. She was very timid, but also very afraid of strangers, which she exhibited by aggressive barking. We think she was mistreated by the couple who dumped her at the shelter at age 6. We started AB and saw immediate results. She became more confident. However, after several months, Lady decided that my husband was the master and did not need protecting, but that I was her child - and always needed to be protected. For almost a year, I could not walk with her to the big park near our home. She was on her hind legs, pulling on the leash and barking aggressively at everyone within sight. Recently, we wre away for 3 weeks. Lady was in a kennel, where I am told, she is their favourite, most well behaved guest. I decided to practice AB again when she arrived home. My husband was absent. It was an amazing turnaround. Lady has (almost) stopped asking questions. Today, she is a much more happy and relaxed dog. We are working on perceived danger as she still barks when people walk up the stairs in our building (we live on the r-d-c) and when guests arrive. But I am convinced AB is responsible for this once- terrified, gorgeous dog becoming adjusted to the \"big bad world\" and understanding that we are her protectors. Thank you Marina for your ongoing support.
